Are you passionate about outreach, education and protecting seniors? We’re looking for a committed volunteer to help our small SHIP (State Health Insurance Assistance Program) and SMP (Senior Medicare Patrol) team educate local seniors about Medicare and fraud prevention.
Key responsibilities may include:
Community Presentations: Deliver weekly presentations to senior audiences about Medicare basics, fraud prevention, and scam awareness. Preferred time is midday (typically around noon), but flexible.
Materials Development: Help enhance existing slideshow presentations to make them engaging, informative, and culturally relevant (especially for Spanish-speaking communities).
Data Collection: Collect and upload post-presentation surveys and feedback from participants to help assess effectiveness.
Language Support: If Spanish-speaking, translate presentation materials and provide verbal delivery in Spanish when required.
Training and onboarding on presentation topics will be provided! We just ask that you possess good people skills and be comfortable presenting to a group of people. Have a knack to develop slide show presentations that capture attention and effective follow up surveys.
Commitment is a minimum of 1 year, at least 4 presentations a month. Each presentation is planned for 1.5 - 2 hours (including travel time). Available any day (Monday - Friday) that works for the volunteer and community center. 3-5 hours a week.
Prefer a minimum of 55 years of age, but not required.
Bilingual Spanish-speaking competency desired, but not required. (Native Spanish ability to translate presentation materials and present to communities in Spanish).
