Mentors volunteer in our student success elective class at one of two Provo high schools. Mentors are essential to the success of our program as they are the ones helping each student individually with their personal and academic goals. Mentor responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Help Students through one-on-one tutoring
- Foster supportive and meaningful relationships with the students
- Motivate and encourage students to achieve their goals
- Attend regular team meetings
- Lead small group discussions
We need mentors who:
- Have passion and enthusiasm for teaching and education
- Have college-level tutoring skills
- Enjoy working with youth
- Speak Spanish(preferred)
Teens Act has been a great opportunity and experience for all of our mentors. One mentor expressed the following about their experience:
"Mentoring with Teens Act feels incredibly important and seriously makes me so happy. The kids are so real and see life in such a unique way. If they can get the hope and belief in themselves, they will be such incredible change makers. I think being aware of the unfairness they face inspires me to volunteer."
Other reasons to volunteer include:
- Great opportunity to change the world, one student at a time
- Amazing resume booster
- Fun and supportive culture
- Opportunities for internship credit
