Create Activities to Help Kids Learn About Sequencing

Community Impact: Welcome Baby supports healthy parent-child relationships and early development by providing families with tools, education, and encouragement. One way we do this is through Ready To Learn parenting workshops - a program where parents receive free children's books and fun, hands-on activities to help their children learn and grow through play. After joining our workshop about emerging literacy skills, parents take these activities home to help their children learn about sequencing.

Visits can be done virtually or in-person and cover topics like safe sleeping, feeding, bonding and attachment, and postpartum mental health.

The Tarjimly mobile app allows the world’s 3 billion multilingual speakers to remotely volunteer their language skills as translators and interpreters for the 65 million displaced people. Today, it is the most accessible translator service in the world.

When a refugee, asylum seeker, or humanitarian worker requests a translator for a particular language, Tarjimly’s machine learning matching algorithm selects the best volunteer available in our community of 8,000+ people. This person is then connected in a live chat with the person in need, where they can send text, documents, and start a phone or video call.

Each year, disasters around the world kill nearly 100,000 and affect or displace 200 million people. Many of the places where these disasters occur are literally 'missing' from any map and first responders lack the information to make valuable decisions regarding relief efforts. Missing Maps is an open, collaborative project in which you can help to map areas where humanitarian organizations are trying to meet the needs of vulnerable people.

How does it work?

Step 1. Remote volunteers trace satellite imagery into OpenStreetMap

Step 2. Community volunteers add local detail such as neighborhoods, street names, and evacuation centers

Step 3. Humanitarian organizations use mapped information to plan risk education and disaster response activities that save lives.

Crisis Text Line is the free, 24/7 text line for people in crisis in the United States. The service is powered by volunteer Crisis Counselors who work remotely—anywhere with a computer and secure internet connection works.

Crisis Counselors answer texts from people in crisis, bringing them from a hot moment to a cool calm through active listening, collaborative problem solving, and safety planning.
