Pleasant Grove Library Literacy Center

Who We Are

We believe reading is an important basic for learning. We strive to help readers to gain confidence for future learning throughout life by working one-on-one with struggling readers. We not only teach skills, we build confidence.

What We Do

The Pleasant Grove Literacy Center offers tutoring to children who need help improving their reading and writing skills. The tutoring is one-on-one and is done by volunteer tutors. Our hours of operation are from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm, Tuesday and Wednesday for the summer and 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday during the school year. Tutors work one on one with a specific student one hour a week. We love working with college students who need volunteer credit, so come by and see us. Our goal is for each student to graduate from the program by passing our assessment test one reading level above their current grade level. We also have a goal to improve each students' confidence in themselves and their abilities. Many students are deferred to a waiting list because we don't have enough tutors. The tutoring is done at our center located in the Pleasant Grove Library.
